I’m sure there’s a relevant Mayer lyric for this situation

Lazy, overcast, sleeted Saturday. Woke up three times this morning: first, when the room next door starting bumping their subs at 7:21 am for who knows what reason. Woke up again at 1025 or so, decided that was too early, and finally got out of bed at 1241. I started straightening things out in my room until threeish, and hung out with Urn for a little while, and abused the helium canister he purchased to sing the falsetto on that blasted “I Believe In a Thing Called Love” song by the Darkness. It was exceedingly funny.
I grabbed some lunch from Chick-fil-a and walked back to my room, ready to listen to Led Zepplin, but when I put it on, I just wasn’t feeling it. There’s something about this kind of weather that makes that blasted John Mayer kid’s music even more appealing than usual. Anyhow, I sorted some more clothes for a while and then checked Dusty at 17-something to see when the concert he invited me to was happening, and listened to him poke around on his Fender, which was fun. Came back to my room, and cracked out the CDs I bought at Hastings yesterday: Kris Kross’s magnum opus, Totally Krossed Out and Jay-Z’s 1999 mini-album Jigga my N**** (asterisks his) for $4.99 and $1.99, respectively. The Jay-Z CD was quite scratched up, but thank’s to Easy CD-DA Extractor 6’s Reread and Repair mode, every track transferred without any ‘remixes’, if you know what I mean.
Mmm, Kris Kross. I’m going to break my rule of hating lyrics posted in blogs and put in some choice lines from “Jump”, since I can’t think of a way to include them in conversation like I might with something by Murphy Lee or Ludacris.
Today’s one of those blasted Catholic Patron Saint Celebration cum Moneymaker for Hallmark, isn’t it? Hmm, too bad. The Friendly Tavern back home makes really good corned beef and cabbage and dyes their beer green on St. Patrick’s Day. I always thought it was more associated with green and Ireland and Lucky Charms than all this red and pink and hearts motif I’m seeing everywhere, though. Oh well.

You should know, you should know that, uhThat concert’s at seven, so I need to czech the weather again and then get ready to go.
Kris Kross is not having anything today
As we stand here totally krossed out
We commence to make you

Hmm, John Mayer? I’m not familiar with him… Recommend some good songs by him?

Well, I think his best songs are “3×5” (the Birmingham concert live version is like 8 minutes and superior to the regular album version), “Split Screen Sadness”, and “Neon” (once again, the Birmingham concert version is the best). You may have heard “No Such Thing” on the radio, which is him at is most poppish (hence the radio play) but Nelly liked it enough to make it the backbeat to his remix of “Iz U”. Playing the two back to back is a favorite of mine and Dusty’s.

Kris Kross became popular in 1992. They vanished off the scene not long after. How you have discovered them (or rediscovered them, as the case may be) in 2004 is completely beyond me.

I know who Kris Kross is; they’re absolutely classic. I was just happy to secure a copy of their magnum opus, so that I could make high-quality, lossless flacs of the entire album. Once you go flac you never come back.
