It’s getting cold.

The end of October is setting in here, the clouds roll in from the North and the walls and floors are chilly to the touch. So, I’m sending for some of my warmer stuff: see attachment.
Alex said he just took pictures of his closet before he left; this overall is probably a better idea, but, as my clothes are spread around who knows how many closets in Neuhaus for various logistical reasons, a half-hour in Illustrator is probably worth it.
We went to a really cool restaurant last night, that, oddly enough was a little theme place, after the old Florence streetcars. And then, the day before that, I had seen a documentary on German Satelite TV about Mussolini and Hitler, a lot of it featuring footage from their visits here. (The old Führer described Florence as “The best city in the world.”) In it I noticed that Florence at one time in the past had streetcars (there were rail traces in the roads in the film). While Florence really is pretty much the best city in the world, I think they could have kicked it up to an ever higher level with the streetcars. It’s too bad they got rid of them.
I’m still not really sure what to write about anymore. School is school. We’re taking Italian classes again, which is kind of nice, although I think I’m a lot further ahead of everyone in the beginner class. Did I ever talk about going to Arezzo one weekend? That was kind of neat. There was a pink post-64 Lincoln Continental parked in the old city square which was kind of nuts.
Even though I hate it, I think I’m going to go to Venice soon. It’s like nasty junk food that isn’t even appetizing yet it’s impossible to stop eating it. If I catch avian flu, you’ll know why.
UPDATE: 0030 CEST The spotlight outside my window is showing flurries in the air. And yes, CEST stands for Central European Summer Time. So much for Al Gore and Televangelists.

You mean Nobel Laureate Al Gore? 😉 Oh boy, he’s gone and surpassed Noam Chomsky, hasn’t he? Inventing the Internet, discovering global warming, escaping the stigma surrounding his Ben Stein sound-alike voice … wait, hold on a second ………….
Mother Nature has been very, very fickle here at home (both Tippecanoe and Boone Counties). The weather, in under 8 days, has had a change of heart from “high of 55” to “high of 72” to “high of 50-something” to “here comes a tornado! and warmer weather! High 70s!?” to where we are right now. We’re enjoying the last day of warm weather before Monday morning, which (according to the weather man) will signal the week-long return of autumnal temperatures. Of course they feel f-f-f-f-freezing when you keep “island hopping” between climates, for goodness sake.
Why do you hate Venice?
Did Matt tell you I invented a new Nazz-ism the night we hung out for the first time in like 2½ months? “A bat’s chance in Hell” : the fusion of “a snowball’s chance in Hell” (the intended meaning) and “flying like a bat out of Hell.” I dunno, I’d say a bat’s chances in Hell are pretty good, actually, children’s Christian television-speaking. 😉
