Storylines

Fox presents: When vaguely DBZ-ish things attack! Part fourty six (working title)

On a Earth--Cheziteria voyage, Grand Inquistor (under the command of Professor Ilk) discovers a derilict spacefighter of similar design to an FSF Skylord or "Nazirae" fighter, while servicing a subether relay station. On further inspection it appears to be a "Super Skylord", built nearly ten Earth years after the launch of Grand Inquisitor. The S-Skylord has been modified to accomodate a much larger pilot, and the onboard computer's operating system contains code that turns it and any GIOS-aware computers in commucation with it to an alien interface. This virus' effects on Grand Inquistor are quickly halted by Professor Ilk before any significant damage can be done.

This whole thing turns out to be a big setup, by a group of aliens from a nearby dimension who obtained HRC-1242 Grand Imperator nearly three hundred years earlier (by their own timeframe), as the hacked S-Skylord manages to get a subether tracking beacon activated on board Grand Inquisitor. A drive miscalculation, vaguely similar to that made by Grand Inquisitor's propulsion computer, landed Grand Imperator near the alien's warship in that dimension. Attacked immediately, the Grand Imperator sustained heavy losses, but managed to cripple the alien warship. Undeterred, the aliens rammed HRC-1242, and take it over after a bloodbath (the Grand Imperator is mostly crewed by civilians). The aliens attempt to understand and salvage the workings of the GI's Hyperbolic Subether drive, but unknowlingly damage it heavily. Learning from the onboard library of the history and origin of Grand Imperator, the aliens inform their high command and attempt to spool engines and transit to Earth. However, the Grand Imperator's main drive implodes, transiting them to the CCE dimension instead. Left with only two operational fusion reactors and just one of the ship's conventional drives, they slowly make their way towards Earth, eventually repairing their own ship's FTL drive enough to allow them to make short hops through hyperspace. Generations later, on the way to Earth, they discover the unattended subether relay station, and monitor it. They realize that they are in an alternate dimension, and that the only space power in the quadrant is the Grand Inquisitor, and lay the trap. Oh yeah, these aliens look kinda like Cell from DBZ.

Its mission complete, Grand Inquisitor is left with a skeleton crew of its usual skeleton crew parked above the gas giant which orbits Cheziteria's sun, Vishae. Diagnostics later reveal the beacon; Ilk and now Paco return to the great blue egg to further investigate. HRC-1242 soon arrives in the outer reaches of the Cheziterian system, epic capital-ship-on-capital-ship battle ensues. Paco is forced to convene a press conference detailing the existence of Grand Inquisitor (whose existence was always implied after the arrival of the erfabo (Earthers) in dk 1027) and the treat to the peace as alien raiding parties attack Shedvishia. While the two ships are still locked together in a struggle (the ships struck each other in an oncoming lateral glance and are now both floating adrift as aliens and Inquistor crew continue to fight), Paco rallies the elite guards of the Kutonsharate (who have some Grand Inquisitor technology at their disposal) to prevent the aliens from besieging Franco's home town of (Los Angeles).

I'm not giving away the end of the story.

Important bits from the story

This story contains the introduction of Ilk's daughter as a primary recurring character, the first appearance of Grand Imperator, and the first appearance of several new FSF minor ships, such as the McKinley class cruisers, built by the field drydock assembled from Grand Inquistor's cargo hold.

Continuity Classification

The inital action in the story, up to the return of Grand Inquisitor with the exclusion of the discovery of the Super Skylord, are the final events of CCE Season six in the strict continuity, and marks the end of the strict continuity's main story arc. The rest of Fox presents:... takes place in the Loose continuity.
