Four Days

Jump to Comments So I’m going to stop being sentimental about leaving. So what if I don’t see anybody here ever again? I’m going to Florence, and I hate this place anyhow! I mean, seriously, I shouldn’t always have to be the one that has to tell myself to get some perspective. But, whatever. I got my hat and robes yesterday, they’re pretty chintzy and likely a rental. Anyhow, they have me in marching order with the Spanish majors according to the know-nothings that gave them to me; I’ll probably go over to the registrars office and look like an idiot when they tell me something like “no, all the arts and letters are together, why would you think you are with the Spanish majors particularly?” I signed up for my JMU email address yesterday. Man, it’s incredible to interact with the intranet of a real university. I had to take a computer security / virus awareness quiz before they let me put in a password! I’ve had the same pwd here since sophomore year, and it’s only vaguely secure because I know a thing or two about making passwords. Oh yeah, finally, here’s a funny clip from the Daily Show. UPDATE: Yeah, so I’ve got statistical backing for my Arkansas-hatred: AR is the third worst state for living.

  • The Daily Show clip took a while to build up, but I enjoyed Jon Stewart’s tip of the hat to senseless accusations against video games. I also enjoyed the “Can we be more specific?” bit when it went from “liberals” to “Rosie”.

Congratulations on graduating, Ben! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll be up at Purdue on Saturday myself, sitting on a stage for four hours while people give speeches and none of us gets our name said outloud or gets an actual diploma. (They’re mailed to us!) Hopefully Harding is different. I hope they recognize you for all of your hard work. ๐Ÿ™‚

We should celebrate when you get back. But for now, certainly be sure to enjoy your final days with your Harding pals who you won’t be seeing in Indiana. You may hate the state, but don’t be too quick to depart from the circle of friends, right? I’m sure you’ve left a big impact on them and you will be greatly missed.

  • Oh we don’t get a diploma either, but at least we get our names called. It’s basically exactly the procedure from High School except they don’t have the certificates printed and waiting in the auxiliary gym.
